ParentBrief
Privacy Policy
Last updated March 31, 2026
ParentBrief helps parents collect school communications by forwarding emails or by optionally connecting Gmail. This Privacy Policy explains how ParentBrief accesses, uses, stores, and shares personal information, including Google user data.
What ParentBrief collects
ParentBrief collects the account details you give us, such as your email address and display name, along with the household details you add in the app, such as your children, schools, year levels, and class information.
If you forward emails or connect Gmail, ParentBrief also stores the school emails that are imported into your account, the details extracted from those emails, and the preferences you set for import controls such as allowed senders, blocked senders, and Gmail labels.
How ParentBrief uses this information
ParentBrief uses your information to show your private inbox, organize school communications by child and school, extract useful details such as dates, forms, fees, and reminders, and create your daily digest inside the app.
We also use account and connection information to keep the service running, protect the security of your account, and troubleshoot errors when Gmail sync, forwarding, or digest generation fails.
How ParentBrief uses Google user data
If you connect Gmail, ParentBrief requests read-only Gmail access for the account you choose. ParentBrief uses that access only to look for likely school emails, import matched messages into your private ParentBrief account, display them in the app, extract school-related details, and build your digest and reminders.
ParentBrief does not use Google user data for advertising, does not sell Google user data, and does not transfer Google user data to data brokers or information resellers. ParentBrief does not send email from your Gmail account or change your Gmail mailbox contents.
ParentBrief uses Google user data only to provide or improve user-facing features inside ParentBrief. Raw school emails stay private to the parent account that imported them unless a parent deliberately creates shared content from them.
The use of information received from Google Workspace APIs will adhere to the Google User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Storage and sharing
Imported emails, extracted details, and digest content are stored in ParentBrief's backend so they can appear in your account across devices. Gmail OAuth tokens are stored separately and are encrypted before storage.
ParentBrief may use service providers that help operate the product, including providers that help fetch linked school pages and providers that help generate digest content. We share data with those providers only as needed to run ParentBrief's user-facing features, maintain the service, investigate abuse, or comply with the law.
Your choices
You can choose forwarding instead of Gmail. If you connect Gmail, you can later disconnect it in Settings. You can also narrow Gmail imports with sender and label rules, delete imported emails from your ParentBrief inbox, or permanently delete your ParentBrief account from Settings.
If you disconnect Gmail, ParentBrief stops checking that Gmail account for new messages. If you permanently delete your ParentBrief account, ParentBrief removes your app-owned account data, including imported emails, digests, saved family details, and stored Gmail connection records.
Policy updates
ParentBrief may update this Privacy Policy as the product changes. When we make material changes to how ParentBrief uses Google user data or other personal information, we will update this page and the in-product privacy notice so the explanation stays current.
